Coaching while hiking - learning from nature
Nature has a solution for every problem. So why not learn from nature and transfer proven solutions to your own everyday working life? This is exactly where hiking coaching comes in: People who are coached while hiking have the fascinating experience of gaining clarity about their goals in an astonishingly short time and seeing the next steps clearly ahead of them.
When important professional or personal decisions have to be made, the questions become more frequent: "How can I manage this?" "What is the best way to tackle this difficulty?" "How do I get out of this in one piece?" "How can I move forward?" In such situations, it is primarily about remaining confident and maintaining an overview - in other words, doing the relevant things at the right time. Professional coaching can be very helpful here.
Hiking coaching is a variant of solution-focused short-term coaching and activates the mind and body in equal measure. People who are coached while hiking repeatedly experience that they gain clarity about their goals in an astonishingly short time, recognize their personal potential and see the next steps ahead of them. They use the (meaningful) images from nature to develop personal solution images and suddenly recognize new perspectives.
The course of the conversation is designed by the coach in such a way that the clients change viewpoints and adopt new perspectives while hiking. The coach sees himself as a neutral contact person for his clients' plans, questions and problem solutions. The focus is on their needs, goals and existing strengths, gifts and talents.
Inspiring metaphors from nature
Hiking coaching combines the solution-focused coaching conversation with movement in nature. Nature shows paths that lead up, straight ahead or down, that are easy or difficult, that divide and require a decision on direction. Attentive participants will recognize many solutions:- If it gets too narrow for a stream, it seeks its own path without allowing itself to be diverted from its destination, the sea.
- Moss seeks moisture and follows the shade.
- If there is an obstacle in the way of ants, they find a new route to their burrow.
