Imagination is stronger than willpower

Imagination is stronger than willpower!

Roger Bannister became world famous in 1954. He had a big goal: he wanted to run a mile (1.609 kilometers) in under four minutes. No one in the world had ever achieved this before. "The human body has limits," said doctors, therapists and psychologists.
By 1954, everyone agreed: "Running the mile in under four minutes is impossible!". What's more, many other runners had previously tried to break this barrier. They all failed. This in turn confirmed in the collective mind: "Under four minutes is impossible!"
Roger Bannister didn't care. In his mind, he ran the mile over and over again in under four minutes. He used the power of imagination: he pictured himself crossing the finish line in record time. He saw his goal as achieved and programmed himself for success. Even if he failed at first, he made small improvements step by step. On May 6, 1954, the time had finally come: Roger Bannister ran the mile in a new world record time of 3:59.4 at the University of Oxford athletics track!

Imagination is stronger than willpower

It was exciting to see what suddenly happened all over the world! In the same year, 37 other runners managed to run the mile in under four minutes. Within a calendar year, there were even more than 300 runners around the world. Fabulous! Everyone could now suddenly imagine that it was possible. This proves that imagination creates reality. And imagination is stronger than willpower!
Until 1954, it was considered impossible to beat the four-minute mark. As soon as someone had managed it, it was no longer an issue. There was no new running style or any other miracle cure. The miracle cure was simply the power of imagination with the firm belief and inner certainty that it was demonstrably possible.

Breaking through mental blocks

With his record run, Roger Bannister not only broke through the magical four-minute barrier - he also broke through all mental blocks to the impossible. Thanks to Roger Bannister, everyone now knew: it is possible! Every athlete could now believe that it could be done. That was the only thing that had changed.
